Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

What kind of company are you, specifically?

We are first and foremost an engineering and manufacturing firm. We mainly focus on assisting corporate innovation teams with their product development lifecycles. However, we also offer similar services to universities and startup companies.

What’s the difference between SVV and an accelerator/incubator?

The difference between SVV and an accelerator/incubator is that we don’t just tell you what to do or how to build your product. We produce it for you, taking your concept and creating a 90% ready-for-market prototype. Then, we test and develop prototypes to make them factory-ready.

Another difference is that a goal of ours is to remove the strain from producing and engineering your product so you can focus on other core business activities, like sales, marketing, fundraising, software development, and whatever else you may need to do.

In terms of similarities, we also provide large office spaces for startup partners, just above the labs where we are building their products! We offer our clients various forms of guidance and assistance.

Can you explain your engineering service?

Our engineering services consist of product design, development, and production. Our engineering team takes over the entire hardware aspect of your product’s development lifecycle, while you focus on other software or core technological needs.

How does SVV ensure the protection of my IP?

Learning from our extensive experience working with larger companies, we design, test, and develop products all under one roof to ensure minimal exposure of your product.

SVV is also a global company with a reputation we’d like to uphold. To date, we have had no IP issues among any of our clients, partners, or vendors.

We also sign NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) as additional protection and reassurance that your product is safe with us.

How does the capital arm of your company work?

For the time being our venture arm has been put on hold. We will announce its return once we continue it.

What makes SVV so special?

  • We employ over 50+ engineers with extensive knowledge in everything from injection molding to firmware engineering and more
  • We have partnered with over 30 venture capital firms and 20 universities
  • We have our own tier-one manufacturing facility on the 9th and 10th floor of a skyscraper which is where our offices are also located.
  • We have laid the foundations of developing and producing the next generation of advanced hardware via our new, state-of-the-art “Sky Factory/Facility” in Shenzhen and have a strategic partnership with The Capgemini Group offering a more comprehensive product development solution.
  • Altogether, our facilities cover over 70,000 square feet, which means there is plenty of space for your team to design, engineer, and innovate.

How does coming to Shenzhen benefit my company?

The main benefit is time.

Shenzhen is the hardware capital of the world. The city’s extensive supply chains and abundant manufacturing makes it a hardware paradise. On top of that, with so many ambitious entrepreneurs and innovators in the city and Southern China Greater Bay Area (GBA), the networking and exchange of knowledge is top-notch for those in the hardware sector.

All of these advantages are combined to offer you the opportunity to get to market more quickly than if you were in another location.

After we start the research and development cooperation, does the entrepreneurial team need to come to Shenzhen?

No, they do not need to come to Shenzhen.

But we highly recommend that you at least consider moving part of your operation to Shenzhen in the early stages of working together so that we can coordinate more easily.

Our offices in Shenzhen have plenty of space to house your company and can be adapted to fit your needs. We want to take as much of the stress off your hands to give you the time to focus on other aspects of your company.

Do I have to sign a contract with your CM?

No. We are very flexible with which factory you select. Although we have a tier-1 factory within our office, you are not obligated to sign a contract with us.

How many CMs do you work with?

We work with a variety of CMs that suit the needs of a startup company.
